FiveCo, the start-up growing by leaps and bounds
Founded on 17 September 2002 by five EPFL engineers with the support of Genilem, FiveCo is today a company in full expansion, with a team that has recently grown further. In the first half of 2007, the company posted revenues of CHF 875,000 — nearly four times the figure recorded over the same period in 2006. That followed a 227% increase in turnover in 2006 compared to 2005, driven by the company's growing presence in the watchmaking and robotics sectors. Since its founding, FiveCo has successfully completed more than 50 projects, including most recently the Raptor watch display unit (a glass-free display case for Hublot). The young Romand company is forecasting strong growth across the full year 2007, particularly in the products side of its business. Its latest achievements in this area will be presented at the upcoming Go Automation trade fair, to be held in Basel from 3 to 7 September.
Since 2004, FiveCo has been a founding member of the Swiss Mobile Robotics Consortium, which brings together six companies — BlueBotics, Cyberbotics, K-Team, GCtronic, Neuronics, and FiveCo — each recognised for its excellence in its own area of expertise (navigation, manipulators, 3D simulation, etc.). The consortium's objective is to bring together companies with complementary technical skills in the field of mobile robotics, specifically for industrial applications.
